What does the padlock icon in the address bar guarantee?
- 1That the site is owned by a trusted company and is safe to use
- 2That the site has passed a security audit
- ✓Correct answer: Only that the connection to this domain is encrypted and the certificate is valid
Explanation
Phishing sites can get valid certificates too. The padlock says nothing about who runs the site or whether its code is secure.
