HTML & CSS · Junior · Question 12 of 75

What alt should a purely decorative image (e.g. a divider ornament) have?

Explanation

An empty alt="" tells screen readers the image is decorative and should be skipped. If alt is missing, a screen reader may read out the file name. Text like "image" is useless: alt should convey the image's meaning, not the fact that it exists.
